My name is Matilde Viegas, I am a photographer based in Porto, Portugal. I primarily document intimacy, identity and connection using both digital and film photography.

My work has been commissioned by The Guardian, Le Monde, Die Zeit, Monocle, Konfekt Magazine, Wine & Spirits, Iittala Journal, Taz, Oh Comely Magazine, Público, and others.

In 2019, I was the recipient of the 2019 Gabriel Grüner Stipendium, alongside the writer and journalist Viktoria Morasch.

I am also one of the co-founders of Alento, where I photograph and write about food and relationships established around the table. And I own Grey Darkroom, a colour darkroom in Porto.

You can read more about my work on It’s Nice That and Then There Was Us.
