Sebastian Herkner's Trinity Ring Table

Behind the Creation: Cartier’s Trinity Ring Reimagined in Marble

I photographed the making of a marble table at TCC Whitestone for Cartier’s Trinity ring centennial. Designed by Sebastian Herkner, the piece translates the iconic three interlocked bands into carefully selected marbles.

My focus was on capturing the hands at work and their connection with materials. I’ve always been drawn to documenting process and craftsmanship, especially when it’s about this intimate relationship between maker and material.

I spent the day watching different marbles being cut, shaped and polished, gradually coming together in this beautiful table. The colors and textures reflected the Trinity ring’s traditional combination—it was fascinating to see jewelry concepts translated into furniture.
